About Us
Hello! I’m Stephen, and this is Barks & Recreation. We are a two-strong team of professional dog walkers in the Preston and South Ribble area that also provides support to adults who have a learning disability to walk dogs. Barks & Recreation was established in October 2015 by myself, a dog enthusiast and experienced social care professional of over fifteen years.
I pride myself and the organisation on providing a reliable and personal service to our family of dog customers and the people we support. As a dog owner myself, the organisation is based on the ideals and principles of what I want for my own dogs.
Our Walks
We walk dogs from just one household at a time, so our customers can rest assured that their dog has our full and undivided attention throughout our visit. We fully tailor our walks to suit the dog and their needs, making our service ideal for smaller or older dogs that may find group walks a bit too much.
We are also happy and able to do whatever it is your dog needs during our visit at no extra cost. Small dog that requires smaller, regular meals? We can put food down for them. Older dog in need of a little extra care? We can administer medication, or clean up after any accidents. Nothing is too much trouble.
Areas covered: Ashton-on-Ribble, Broadgate, Docklands, Higher Penwortham, Hutton, Longton, Lostock Hall, Lower Penwortham, New Longton, Preston, Whitestake & more.
trust
Finding a dog walker is a big deal, allowing a stranger into your home when you’re not there, and even more so to trust them to walk your dog!
We always meet with each new customer before anything is agreed to ensure that you and your dog(s) are happy with us before we start, and to make sure we know everything we need to know about your dog(s) and their preferences.
We are fully insured and DBS checked, and trained in dog first aid, dog behaviour and dog welfare.
We only walk dogs from one household at a time, and our walks are usually 'on-lead’ in local parks or green spaces. We use a variety of leads, aids and adaptations to ensure that all our walks are as fun but also as safe as possible.
Why Choose Us?
There are lots of great dog walkers in our area, but why choose us? Here are a few more reasons why you might want to choose us.
We are rated ‘five stars’ on Google, Yell and Facebook (and maybe elsewhere too).
We are a small, personable service that prides itself on its relationship with its customers.
We are happy to go above-and-beyond for no extra cost. Whatever your dogs needs during our visit, we’re happy to do it.
For each new customer, we donate to the National Trust ‘Plant a Tree Fund’ for a tree to be planted in their dogs name.
We walk dogs on ‘solo walks’ for the price of a ‘group walk’, making us an affordable option for any dog - but especially the small or elderly that don’t enjoy the hustle and bustle of a walk with other dogs.
